We're a day late this week due to Labor Day in the States. We did manage to get most of this week's new releases up yesterday and they were 99.9% accurate, so no great problem there. Last week's delivery was littered with damages; thankfully we just about had enough to cover subscriptions and online customers. There's newt worst than bad packaging by a supplier you spend a lot of money with each month - argh!

Anyway, less of the downside and back to the stuff that really counts, the new releases. The highlight of the week goes to Marvel and Marvel Apes #1. Now this could well be the smash hit of the year or the damp squib of the year, only time will tell. We here at DVHQ tend to give all new comics the benefit of the doubt and, as you know, if it's a funny book we'll give it a go.

Stephen King's two new adaptations, namely, The Dark Tower: Treachery and The Stand were due to ship this week. However, they have been dropped from the delivery confirmation, and worryingly they aren't on next week's schedule either. Weird huh? This happened with the last issue of the last Dark Tower series, so if you're keen to get your hands on a copy then watch the new release section avidly.

Marvel also unleash ASM #570 with a variety of covers, wasn't last week's Venom cover awesome? There's a Peter Parker variant this week, an Anti-Venom next week and a Bullseye variant the week after - all will be available within the new release section, week by week. Invincible Iron Man #5, Ms. Marvel Annual #1, Secret Invasion: Front Line #3, Venom: Dark Origin #2, X-Men Origins: Beast, X-Men: Manifest Destiny #1 and a new Sub-Mariner mini series entitled The Depths featuring stunning artwork by Esad Ribic, he of Silver Surfer: Requiem fame make up marvel's recommended comics this week.

Dc offer up a few new titles with the return of Adam Strange in a special one-shot. El Diablo makes a comeback in a new series, as do the Secret Six. Surely enough to make my life exceedingly difficult in the shop this week but that's another story. There's a new sci-fi title on Wildstorm based on JJ Abrams of Lost fame's series entitled Fringe. I've been lucky enough to see the pilot episode and it certainly has potential. Ahh Dark sci-fi, is there anything better? Well maybe Zombies, Robots and Haribo but you don't wanna hear about that, do you?

DC's other gems this week include Detective Comics #848 and Nighwing #148 continue the Batman R.I.P crossover. Green Lantern # 34, House of Mystery #5, The Authority #2 and the re-release in Trade Paperback of DC's Invasion including Todd McFarlane’s first work for comics. I'm told by reliable sources that this is good and it would be far too temerarious of me to say otherwise.

The Indies are headed up by the release of a new Zombie title called The Dead written and drawn by Alan Grant and Simon Bisley - nuff said?! You know us guys at DVHQ are zombie crackers but add to that the creative team behind it and you've got yourself a winner...end of. This is produced by a British company, namely Berserker, so get behind it and make it a roaring success. You never know we may even commission a DV exclusive variant...How cool would that be?

The rest of the Indies are highlighted this week with Necronomicon # 1 on Boom! Studios, The Boys #22 on D.E., Buffy The Vampire Slayer #18 on Dark Horse, Angel: After The Fall #12 on IDW Pax Romana # 3 and Spawn #182 on Image. Speaking of which, you may have read by now that Todd McFarlane and Whilce Portacio are returning to creative duties from issue #185 of Spawn, so get it added to your subs now. Finally there's the return to comics for Street Fighter on Udon and Street Fighter: Remix #0.

Till next time, boomshanka!
