Regie mentioned the 1987 movie Hollywood Shuffle, which neither Alice nor Hat had seen. Here's the trailer: And this is the scene that Regie referenced: Turns out that "There's work at the Post Office" as a phrase has quite a powerful history in African American culture - something we only learned as we were preparing these show notes. It's amazing isn't it - we even educate ourselves doing this! OK, that's pretty much it for this week. The Geeks at the Gates is a copyright feature

At time of posting we haven't been broadcast on Harrogate Community Radio, but we're assured we will be - and you should check it out anyway, because it's pretty cool. Check them out here: https://harrogatecommunityradio.online/ Regie mentioned Marc Maron's WTF podcast, which can be found at http://www.wtfpod.com/. He also mentioned that Maron interviewed President Obama - who came to Maron's garage. That episode can be found here: htt

"It's just a comic - but it's so much more..." The Wednesday Waffle - Issue 39

Hello! It's been a while since the last Waffle - partly because I've been crazy busy, but mostly because I didn't have anything to say I thought would be interesting. This was, frankly, not unexpected - and it's not Diamond's fault. The plain fact is that American comics are priced in dollars. As the value of the pound falls again

"The Russians used a pencil...": The Geeks at the Gate Episode 42 - Stranger Things 3

Matt, Hat and Regie got together in the old shop to discuss Stranger Things. Click on the image below to go to the Download Page, or subscribe to The Geeks at the Gates wherever you get your podcasts. The "Magnum P.I." vibe that Hopper was giving off came up, and Regie suggested you all should watch this video... ...which we will never, ever get tired of watching. Paralells were drawn with the classic early eighties move 9 to 5, and it was mentioned that a sequel was in the works. The best info we can find on that is here. As part of a discussion about how the USSR and the USA had different attitudes to tech and complexity Regie went off on one about the different approaches that N.A.S.A. an

aka Can't believe you cancelled it: The Geeks at the Gates Podcast Episode 41- Jessica Jones sea

A little late to the party because Regie has been busy and (much to Hat's irritation) took ages to get through the whole of season three, but our dynamic duo sat down in the old shop and had a bit of a natter about the third and final season of Jessica Jones. Click the image below to go to the download page, or simply subscribe to The Geeks at the Gates wherever fine pods are casted! PLEASE NOTE - BOTH THE PODCAST AND THESE SHOWNOTES CONTAIN SPOILERS FOR JESSICA JONES SEASON THREE!!!!!!! So, Regie went off on a bit of a rant about how they bring Trish to the heliport in a massive armoured vehicle, and then load her into a regular helicopter, which he identified as a "Squirrel" - one of these
