The Daily Waffle - Issue One

Good morning! The Wednesday Waffle goes daily for the duration of the COVID-19 thing. If you don't want to spend time reading, there's a handy video version on our facebook page if you follow this link.

I should have the video actually viewable on this page from tomorrow.

So. We've had confirmation from Diamond that the delivery will be with us a day late this week, so New Comic Book Day will be on Thursday, and assuming we're not on national lockdown by then, I'll be making deliveries. We'll have a full "What's on the Rack?" video on Wednesday afternoon.

Obviously we want to minimise contact - for everybody's protection, so we're going to ask for payment in advance. This means we won't have to make contact on your doorstep. I can send online invoices, or I can take payment over the phone - the shop's phone number is 07399 703891, so feel free to give us a call.

If pre-payment is a problem, let us know and we'll try to sort something out.

Again, for the protection of everyone, we're going to be delivering comics in cardboard mailers, and not bagging and boarding unless you specifically ask us. This is because our understanding is that the virus can survive longer on plastic than it can on paper and cardboard.

We will be observing the new standard delivery protocol being used by Royal Mail and other couriers. When making a delivery we will either put it through your letterbox or, if it won't fit, we'll place the package on the doorstep, knock on the door, back up two metres and wait for you to answer. Again, if you prefer some other arrangement - maybe you have a safe place for leaving packages and such, for example - just let us know.

So, with the schools closed and everyone minimising time outside the home we all need something to do. So, Destination Venus is holding a comics contest.

At some point in the next couple of days (details to follow) I'm going to do an online version of the "Let's Make Comics!" presentation I do for schools and libraries. We're then going to run a comic making contest. Age groups and prizes to be decided (Customer Hat suggested this idea to me this morning - we're still working on the details...) so watch this space. Or our social media pages.

OK. That's it for today. See you tomorrow. Until then, keep up to date by following our social media accounts, stay home if you can, wash your hands often, be kind to yourself, be kind to everyone else, and read loads of comics.
