The list is updated every day, so keep checking back! DOCTOR APHRA #1 The most disreputable scoundrel in a galaxy far, far away is BACK! The timeline has moved to match the main book, so we're now in the time between Empire and Jedi, and Aphra has a new "team" - but she's still Aphra... Now on the trail of an almost mythical artefact, with one of the richest, meanest spoiled brats in the Empire on her tail, life for everybody's favourite disreputable space archaeologist isn't getting any easier... Still my favourite com

WARNER "ACTIVELY DISCUSSING" RELEASING THE AYER CUT OF SUICIDE SQUAD Because of course they are. It's an asset that they have already, selling it costs nothing and makes them money. WHOLE BUNCH OF DC TITLES TO GO DIGITAL ONLY, SOME OTHERS TO CEASE SINGLE ISSUES AND BECOME "COLLECTED ONLY" I'll collate everything and put up a definitive list. DC are really shaking stuff up. DIAMOND DELIVERY SCHEDULE TO END OF JUNE We have previously announced that Diamond would be recommencing weekly deliveries from 20th May. As a result of various factors (their own warehouse capacity if they are to maintain social distancing and protect their staff, availability and cost of air freight and the need to be co

NEW TEAM ON CATWOMAN As of issue #25, scheduled for release in September, writer Ram V and artist Fernando Blanco will be taking over Selina Kyle's solo adventures. Both have worked on the book before, V having guest written issues #14 and #15 and Blanco having worked with current writer/artist Joelle Jones on some recent issues. Big things are promised - September might be a good time to jump on board... CAVILL TO RETURN AS SUPERMAN? SLOW NEWS DAY - NOTHING TO REPORT For the second time since lockdown started, I have no news to share. The delivery lands tomorrow, so that's going to be a busy one... DIAMOND DELIVERY SCHEDULE TO END OF JUNE We have previously announced that Diamond would be recommencing weekly deliveries from 20th May. As a result of various factors (their own warehouse capacity if they are to maintain social distancing and protect their staff, availability and cost of air freight and the need to be consistent) they have now revised and reduced this schedule. DAVID AYER SAYS A DIRECTOR'S CUT OF SUICIDE SQUAD EXISTS Hard on the heels of the announcement that the Snyder Cut is coming out, David Ayer confirms that he has a director's cut of Suicide Squad exists. The difference, I would respectfully suggest, is that a sizeable chunk of fandom was eager to see the Snyder Cut of Justice League. I'm going to go out on a limb and speculate that there are rather fewer people anxious to see any version of Suicide Squad again. That said, I find it hard to see how there could be a cut that's worse than the one that was released theatrically, so who knows - maybe there's a hidden classic in there just bursting to get out... CORRECTED NEWSLETTER GOING OUT TOMORROW I forgot to mention this in the video, but just so you know, I predictably failed to get issue one of our email newsletter The Venusian Times absolutely right. Not everyone who signed up got it, and there were some internal errors in the newsletter itself. I'm sorting all of that out today and issue 1b will be out tomorrow. RAY PORTER REVEALED AS DARKSEID IN THE SNYDER CUT Read all about it over at Screen Rant. This has not particularly increased my personal interest in watching the movie - although I'm a very big fan of Porter's voice work - but it does make the theatrical release even more incomprehensible. I mean, one of the issues with Justice Leag

BOOM! RELEASES TRAILER FOR WYND From writer James Tynion IV and artist Michael Dialynas (who previously worked together on The Woods, but you'll recognise Tynion IV from his work on an obscure little known comic called Batman) comes a tale set in a world where magic is outlawed, a boy with magic in his blood is caught in a conspiracy and must discover his power to save his friends. Some of you are going to love this... Wynd #1 is due out June 17. DC DITCHES DC PREVIEWS IN FAVOUR OF "DC CONNECT" - READ IT FOR FREE ONLINE As DC Comics continues to pursue non-Diamond avenues of distribution, they are killing the DC Previews catalogue that used to be included as an insert in Diamond's Previews.

All the comics we made picks of the week this week (and last week, since we're experiencing extended time between deliveries...) - click the cover to go to the purchase page. The list is updated every day, so keep checking back! THE AMAZING MARY JANE #6 Mary Jane is back in New York, having completed the Mysterio Biopic she was making in L.A. But as she hits the chat show circuit to promote the film, she realises that somebody very bad news indeed has taken an interest in her. And so she's catapulted into a new and entirely unwelcome adventure - one that will take her places she does not want to go, and will separate her from her beloved Peter Parker. Perhaps forever... Four middle aged men meet over Skype to pontificate about pop culture - it's just like old times as Regie, Steve, Aiden and New Matt discuss whether they're just getting too old for all this stuff... Click the image below to go to the download page or search for The Geeks at the Gates wherever you get your podcasts. SCIENCE!!!!!!! As we paused that conversation until next week, Regie had a science spot about an image astronomers have taken an image of a planet in the process of formation. Here it is - click on it for more info! That's it 'till next week. The Geeks at the Gates is a copyright feature of Venus Rising Media featuring music by Steven G. Saunders. All rights are reserved.

COMICS COMING IN AUGUST Check out everything coming from Marvel Comics in August HERE. DC's August titles can be perused HERE. Dark Horse's August offerings can be seen HERE. TITLES SHIPPING 27TH MAY NOW ON THE DESTINATION VENUS WEBSITE... ...or at least they will be by the end of the day. We'll be taking the delivery in, sorting standing orders and invoicing on Wednesday 27th, and delivering from Thursday 28th. We've started a bit of a re-vamp on the Website too - expect a slightly new look and some improved features. We'd appreciate any feedback that you have. SOME KEY STAFF AT IDW BEING "LET GO" Which is the American euphemism for "being made redundant". RUBY ROSE QUITS AS BATWOMAN - KATE KANE TO BE RE-CAST Well. This is a bit of a bummer. I haven't actually seen the Batgirl show yet, and so have no opinion regarding whether its any good, although people whose opinion I trust have loved it. Such a departure from a show after the first season isn't unprecedented of course, Meg Foster originally played the eponymous Cagney in Cagney and Lacey for the second season and famously the departure of Christopher Eccleston as The Doctor was announced the morning after his first episode aired. No reasons have been given for Rose's departure - we could speculate about the accident she suffered during production, or the abuse both the show and herself pe

UMBRELLA ACADEMY SEASON TWO GETS A RELEASE DATE We know you've seen this already, but if we're honest we're just sharing this because it's a really good excuse for sharing this slice of pure joy again. And of course, this: PEOPLE ARE VERY ANNOYED WITH NEIL GAIMAN You've probably seen this story too. We mentioned Gaiman's apparent split with his wife Amanda Palmer a week or so ago. They were isolating together in New Zealand. Gaiman has since confirmed that he is now self isolating alone. DC SOLICITIATIONS FOR AUGUST 2020 - SUPERGIRL ENDS AS DIGITAL ONLY, HARLEY QUINN CANCELLED We understand the economics behind it, but we're very annoyed by the treatment of Supergirl, the last tow issues of this will never be published as physical singles. DIAMOND BACKS COMICS COMEBACK! Diamond Comics is behind an internet campaign to support the return of comics to stores, the stores that sell them and the creators who make them. Diamond Boss Steve Geppi promises "big things", although right now the movement is a website, a hashtag and a slogan. As with all things, at the moment the campaign is focused on the North American market, but we're sure that Diamond UK will be jumping on board. In the meantime, we absolutely back the sentiment. We continued our exploration of the Matt Smith era - click the image to go to the download page, or search The Geeks at the Gates wherever fine pods are casted! Regie reckoned the "HELLO STONEHENGE!" speech was the best speech of the Matt Smith Era. Hat was not convinced, but here it is in full: We mentioned that the Fez made its first appearance in The Big Bang. And of course, at the end of that episode, after the Doctor is erased from existance, Amy remembers him and brings him back - at her wedding: Because we all disliked A Christmas Carol, we ended up talking about Sharks, and the movie Six Headed Shark Attack came up.
