The Daily Waffle: Episode Twenty Seven

DIAMOND UK TENTATIVELY MAP OUT FUTURE DELIVERY/DISTRIBUTION SCHEDULE

Finally the news we've been waiting for! Diamond have announced that they intent to ship the delivery intended for 25th March on Monday 11th May. Once that delivery is confirmed, I'll let people know and will arrange to invoice everyone who has new comics coming in, and arrange for delivery.

Diamond is further speculating that there will then be actual new releases from publishers towards the end of May. Meanwhile Newsarama is reporting that DC Comics will begin rolling out new product on April 28th using non-Diamond distribution in the US (it's currently unclear how this affects the UK) - if this is true then Diamond will certainly have stuff by the end of May, so long as they can get it shipped across the Atlantic.

Obviously all of this is provisional and very much dependent on Government advice and everything going well - but the end may finally be in sight! As ever, we will do out best to keep you posted.

BATMAN TO RETURN IN JUNE

Newsarama also reports that Batman will return in June with #92. DC have stated that they're doing this to ensure that the maximum number of physical comics stores will be able to stock it. So, thanks for that DC, we appreciate the consideration.

Again, all of this is likely to be subject to events...

SDCC MAY BE CANCELLED, BUT THE EISNER AWARDS ARE GOING AHEAD!

There's no news about how they'll be presented, but the voting will be carried out as normal and the organisers will figure everything else out later.

SEARCH/DESTROY - THE STRONTIUM DOG MOVIE FROM THE PEOPLE WHI BROUGHT YOU JUDGE MINTY

Our mission to find you the best geeky/comicy entertainment for your lockdown pleasure continues. Yesterday we brought you Judge Minty - today, from the same team of outrageously talented fan film makers we bring you Search/Destroy, a short film based on the Strontium Dog series that began in Starlord and moved over to 2000 AD when those titles merged.

In a near future world where Mutants - products of the atomic wars - are loathed and discriminated against, about the only job they can get is as Search/Destroy agents - bounty hunters tasked with bringing in the worst of the worst. "Normals" joke that the SD on their badges actually stands for "Strontium Dog", given that the source of their mutation is Strontium 90.

The best of all the SD Agents is Johnny Alpha. Stern, relentless, driven, he is the scourge of criminals across the galaxy. Together with his time displaced Viking companion Wulf Sternhammer, Alpha is taking on a new case...

(The film makers were on the table next to us at Regie's first Thought Bubble after taking over the shop. Somewhere there's a pic of him wearing Johnny Alpha's helmet...)
