ALTERNA COMICS DITCHES DIAMOND
On the heels of DC's decision to use alternative distribution in the U.S. while Diamond is out of action, the publisher Alterna Comics has decided to ditch Diamond altogether.
This is unlikely to cause Diamond much concern, Alterna is a very small outfit. It doesn't affect us as a retailer much either. We sell very few copies of Alterna titles and if this move means that we can't get them anymore (they currently have no distribution outside the U.S. if they're not using Diamond) it will make almost no impact.
This is a development worth noting, nevertheless. If nobody else follows, nothing will change, but if Alterna are the first domino in a row, this could be the start of a major change.

PODCAST RECOMMENDATION
Radio Free Skaro is possibly the most popular, most prolific and charmingly irreverent (but never irrelevant) Doctor Who podcast around. Since August 2006, hosts Warren Frey (in Vancouver, BC) and Steven Schapansky (in Edmonton, AB) have provided listeners with their brand of amusing Doctor Who praise and punishment. A year later, Chris Burgess (also in Edmonton, AB) was added to the team, and The Three Who Rule were born.
Recommended by Doctor Who Magazine and voted most popular Doctor Who podcast by members of Gallifrey Base, Radio Free Skaro provides an entertaining and diverting listen for the diehard or casual Doctor Who fan. New episodes usually appear on Sundays, following a loose magazine format of the three hosts discussing the news and events of the past week in the Doctor Who universe. Extra features include fan commentaries for classic series and new series episodes of Doctor Who, interviews of some of the brightest Doctor Who luminaries and our popular Miniscope that profiles a writer, director or composer.
