MARVEL MAINTAINS STEADFAST COMMITMENT TO NOT RELEASING NEW CONTENT UNTIL IT CAN BE IN STORES

Which as a retailer I have to say I rather appreciate. Marvel confirms that unlike DC, they will absolutely not be releasing new digital content next week. This means there has been no new Marvel stuff for five whole weeks, and that must be hurting.

As previously reported DC has sought other methods of distribution - we will watch with interest how that pans out. A rather interesting side effect of DC's action has been the casting of Diamond as "the good guys" in the eyes of many US retailers. That's actually quite the achievement...

TANK GIRL HEADS STATESIDE

This is not insignificant news. Created by Jamie Hewlett and Alan Martin Tank Girl got her start in issue #1 of the late eighties comics magazine Deadline, and immediately took the world by storm. Currently she's published by mostly UK outfit Titan, still written by Alan Martin, but now drawn by Brett Parson.

She's been with Titan for seven or eight years now, but it seems her creators have become restless and will be moving to Albatross Funnybooks, home, amongst other things, of The Goon.

This seems to be a good fit, to be honest. Albatross is no stranger to the kind of offbeat punky content that Tank Girl has always offered, and while we'd argue that she's a fundamentally British character, she's thrived at all kinds of U.S. publishers in the past, so bring it on, we say. Martin and Parson will retain control, so there's no reason to imagine that anything other than the publisher logo will change.

The first Tank Girl Comics published by Albatross, titles King Tank Girl are promised later this year, but as with everything these days, we suppose that the actual release date will be dependent on COVID-19.

Aaaaaaaand the award for "most laboured headline I've ever written" goes to...

But both Spider-Man films currently in production have new release dates - both unsurprisingly later than originally planned. Tom Holland was scheduled to return in Spider-Man 3 in July next year, but no he won't be swinging onto the big screen until Fifth November 2021.

Meanwhile, the sequel to Into the Spider-Verse, initially scheduled for April 2022 - which already seemed a long, long way away - has been pushed back to 7th October 2022. Obviously this is all the fault of the ongoing COVID situation, which means that these dates could slip further, depending how things play out.
