R.I.P. JUAN VLASCO 1968-2020
The veteran inker, probably best known for his work at Marvel Comics - most recently The Magnificent Ms Marvel - has passed away at home in Mexico City, reportedly from complications following appendicitis. He was fifty one years old. Our sincere condolences to his family and friends.
NEW US COMICS DISTRIBUTORS MEETING WITH APPROVAL
Lunar Distribution, the new distributor for DC Comics in the South and West of the United States - an offshoot of online comics retailer Discount Comic Book Store (DCBS) was a little controversial at fist. Many retailers - and I can totally understand this - were concerned that they were essentially giving their sales data to a commercial rival.
But the proof of the pudding is in the eating, and many retailers are reporting that the level of service they're getting from Lunar - particularly in the way comics are packed - is excellent.
Obviously this makes no difference to UK retailers right now, but it is perhaps a case for breaking the Diamond monopoly over here too.
MAY THE FOURTH BE WITH YOU
We have the Imperial reaction to May the Fourth, a fascinating piece which contends that the original film was pretty much saved in the edit the Holiday Special and the firrst spisode of the "Droids" and "Ewoks" cartoons from 1985.
