The Daily Waffle: Episode Fifty Nine

RUBY ROSE QUITS AS BATWOMAN - KATE KANE TO BE RE-CAST

Well. This is a bit of a bummer. I haven't actually seen the Batgirl show yet, and so have no opinion regarding whether its any good, although people whose opinion I trust have loved it.

Such a departure from a show after the first season isn't unprecedented of course, Meg Foster originally played the eponymous Cagney in Cagney and Lacey for the second season and famously the departure of Christopher Eccleston as The Doctor was announced the morning after his first episode aired.

No reasons have been given for Rose's departure - we could speculate about the accident she suffered during production, or the abuse both the show and herself personally have endured from certain sections of the internet, but ultimately we won't know until somebody does a full interview.

In the meantime, as Cagney and Lacey and Doctor Who have demonstrated in the past there's no reason that the show itself shouldn't go on from strength to strength.

NEWSLETTER COMING SOON

We'll be launching The Venusian Times next week (if we can make everything work properly) as a supplement to the Daily Waffle. The intention is that once lockdown is over The Waffle will end (or at least become the semi-regular Wednesday Waffle again) and The Venusian Times will be how we keep you all up to date with shipping dates and new comics. Click HERE to send us an email to let us know you'd like to get The Venusian Times direct to your inbox once a week.

DIAMOND CONFIRM NEW SCHEDULE FOR DELIVERIES

We have previously announced that Diamond would be recommencing weekly deliveries from 20th May. As a result of various factors (their own warehouse capacity if they are to maintain social distancing and protect their staff, availability and cost of air freight and the need to be consistent) they have now revised and reduced this schedule. Deliveries will now re-start on Wednesday 27th May, and be fortnightly until the end of June, at which point they will reassess the situation.

The new schedule is as follows.

Wednesday May 27th (Regular timed deliveries to be made on Wed 27th due to Bank Holiday Mon 25th May) Wednesday June 10th Wednesday June 24th

What will actually be shipping on those dates is unclear at present. We'll keep you informed.

GRAPHIC NOVELS ON DEMAND SERVICE NOW ACTIVE

For various logistical reasons we don't list our range of graphic novels and trade paperbacks online. However, we are now able to offer an ordering service - just tell us what you want, either by e-mail, through our social media or using the form on our website (click HERE to go to the appropriate page), we'll send you an invoice and have your book (or books) shipped directly to your door. We can even have them gift-wrapped if you're sending them to somebody else. (Or if you just like unwrapping things...)

DEMPSEY AND MAKEPEACE

One of the best British cop shows ever made. Very silly, utterly unbelievable, they break laws right left and centre. And that's why it's great. Essentially it's an American eighties action cop drama, but set in London not New York.

Utterly fantastic.
