The Daily Waffle: Issue Twelve

COMIC HUB

I attended an online meeting with the company Comic Hub last night to investigate the possibility of joining their service which has the capability of allowing customers to read a digital copy in advance of picking up any physical copies of comics you have bought online.

It's a good looking system, but it's expensive and I'm not sure the shop can afford it, so I'm asking you lot - how interested in such a service would you be?

CULTURE

Today's poem, country boy William Wordsworth's impressions of London in 1802. They're not what you might expect...

Composed upon Westminster Bridge, September 3, 1802

BY WILLIAM WORDSWORTH

Earth has not any thing to show more fair:

Dull would he be of soul who could pass by

A sight so touching in its majesty:

This City now doth, like a garment, wear

The beauty of the morning; silent, bare,

Ships, towers, domes, theatres, and temples lie

Open unto the fields, and to the sky;

All bright and glittering in the smokeless air.

Never did sun more beautifully steep

In his first splendour, valley, rock, or hill;

Ne'er saw I, never felt, a calm so deep!

The river glideth at his own sweet will:

Dear God! the very houses seem asleep;

And all that mighty heart is lying still!

We suspect London wasn't as quiet as this again until last week...

That's it for today. See you tomorrow, until then, be kind to yourself, be kind to everybody else, stay home if you possibly can, and a big thanks to all the key workers staffing tills, stacking shelves, cleaning up, delivering stuff and providing healthcare.
